Hello, and welcome to emese.me

We are the Kreho family of Canada - and hopefully soon the rest of the world. This website shall pull together continents, family, travel, photography and computing (of course), giving insight into our lives and the places we enjoy. We are working on the content. Some day, we will find time AFTER work, swimming lessons, soccer practice, baseball, ballet and the typical family activities to put a lot more here. Until then, take a look around, you might find something that wasn't here the day before.

So what's the plan for the site?

I will be offering anyone with a last name of Kreho their own http://[firstname].kreho.me webspace and [firstname]@kreho.me email addres. The website will be a template driven single page matching the current theme, where you can upload your photos and edit the page with minimum effort. Maybe a blog or forum? - Facebook might be a better alternative. The email accounts are hosted by me and it has a typical webmail interface where you can create a forwarder to other address if you like, similar to hotmail.

The email system is live, so all I need is your info. Email me with your name, alternate email address and I'll create the account. English or Hungarian only please, as beyond some extremely limited Spanish and German I don't speak other languages.

The webpage editor interface is still in progress. I have most of it ready for years, but since this is a spare time effort, I often abandon development. It is now August 2013, and I'll speed up the release depending on your interest.

I don't ask for money for any of this as long as I'm alive. After that (just in case) someone might have to take over. I held most of the kreho domains for years, it is time to make use of them (suggestions appreciated), and maintaining my server is a hobby of mine.

As far as I can tell now, most of us Kreho's are some Slavic origin - so much for my once proud Attila the Hun heratige. I was born and raised in Hungary until the age of 20, and until Google came along, I tought that my family is the only kreho out there as we could not trace anything beyond WW1 when my grandpa was adopted. Surprise and darn Google!

So here it is simple and short, sitting on my deck half eaten by mosquitoes in beautiful Kingston Ontario Canada, trying to get the kreho "clan" organized.

Rackham "But I must explain to you how all this mistaken idea of denouncing pleasure and praising pain was born and I will give you a complete account of the system, and expound the actual teachings of the great explorer of the truth, the master-builder of human happiness. No one rejects, dislikes, or avoids pleasure itself, because it is pleasure, but because those who do not know how to pursue pleasure rationally encounter consequences that are extremely painful. Nor again is there anyone who loves or pursues or desires to obtain pain of itself, because it is pain, but because occasionally circumstances occur in which toil and pain can procure him some great pleasure. To take a trivial example, which of us ever undertakes laborious physical exercise, except to obtain some advantage from it? But who has any right to find fault with a man who chooses to enjoy a pleasure that has no annoying consequences, or one who avoids a pain that produces no resultant pleasure?" Itaque earum rerum hic tenetur a sapiente delectus, ut aut reiciendis voluptatibus maiores alias consequatur aut perferendis doloribus asperiores repellat." 1914 translation by H. Rackham "On the other hand, we denounce with righteous indignation and dislike men who are so beguiled and demoralized by the charms of pleasure of the moment, so blinded by desire, that they cannot foresee the pain and trouble that are bound to ensue; and equal blame belongs to those who fail in their duty through weakness of will, which is the same as saying through shrinking from toil and pain. These cases are perfectly simple and easy to distinguish. In a free hour, when our power of choice is untrammelled and when nothing prevents our being able to do what we like best, every pleasure is to be welcomed and every pain avoided. But in certain circumstances and owing to the claims of duty or the obligations of business it will frequently occur that pleasures have to be repudiated and annoyances accepted. The wise man therefore always holds in these matters to this principle of selection: he rejects pleasures to secure other greater pleasures, or else he endures pains to avoid worse pains."
